Jacki and I went to Burney, CA to visit her parents over Memorial Day weekend, and I didn’t shave the whole time. When I got home, I decided to grow it out as it has been 15 years or so since I last grew a beard, and I wanted to see what color it would be now. It was dark red when I was younger, and I wondered whether any od the gray hairs that have been sneaking onto my temples would make an appearance. They did! Black hairs, too–very weird.
Reactions were mixed. Every one I talked to liked it, except Jacki. She just hates facial hair. “I didn’t marry a man with a beard,” she said. “Yes you did,” I replied. “I just wore it a lot shorter”. She didn’t buy it.
I decided to shave it off for a couple of unexpected reasons: it bugged the heck out of me when I played my euphonium (those damn gray hairs are coarse and prickly!), and my CPAP mask (for my sleep apnea) leaked. It’s too bad; it was really starting to grow on me.
Start Slide Show with PicLens LiteThis is too funny; I had to share it:
I’m going to start a podcast called “Fun With The Euphonium” which will feature me playing short arrangements and possibly original compositions on my euphonium, recorded on multiple tracks and mixed together with Cakewalk Music Creator 4. It won’t be a regularly scheduled show; whenever I get the inspiration and time to put something together, I’ll post it. I figure this will be a way to keep me practicing and playing, and a good way to learn more about arranging, composing and recording/mixing, all on my computer–several interests mixed into one.
Take a look here and let me know what you think!
